Wales and Jean Goebel
Ministry Background
1. Wales Goebel Ministry, Inc., was established January 1, 1967 with Wales and
Jean Goebel as the initial staff. For 54 years this ministry saw thousands of
individuals come to Christ and have their lives transformed by His redeeming grace.
Mr. Goebel has traveled extensively in many parts of the country and has spoken in
hundreds of churches, high schools, community organizations, stadium crusades,
colleges and civic clubs. In addition to this, he has worked with the American
Military, counseling in drug and alcohol related problems in the U.S. and Germany.
Mr. Goebel and his wife, Jean, have raised three sons.
In the words of Dr. Bill Bright, Founder of Campus Crusade for Christ
International:
“The blessing of God is obviously upon the ministry of Wales Goebel.
Wherever he speaks, men’s hearts are deeply stirred and many receive
Christ, whether they be students or lay men.”
2. Sav-A-Life, Inc., was established December 1980 as a result of Mr. Goebel’s
burden to offer young women a positive alternative to abortion. This ministry, with
three locations in the Birmingham areas has a full-time staff and offers a variety of
services including a pregnancy resource center, education class for moms, dads and
families, plus post-abortion counseling. The staff is aided by volunteer counselors
who are available to their clients on a 24-hour basis.
The primary thrust of Sav-A-Life, Inc., is to save the baby and lead the mother to
Christ.
3. Lifeline Children’s Services, Inc., an adoption agency founded by Mr. Goebel,
placed its first baby for adoption just five months after opening its doors in October
of 1981. Licensed by the State of Alabama and qualified to perform inter-state adoptions, this agency, headed by Mr. Herbert Newell, is able to take babies which
have been born both through the Sav-A-Life program and its own program, and place
them in Christian homes should the mother chose the adoption option. Also, Lifeline
has been approved the countries of China, Guatemala, and Ukraine to oversee and
perform international adoptions under the name “Overseas Adoption Missions”.
Many other mothers are electing ‘adoption’ rather than ‘abortion’ and these
children will be placed with Christian parents where they can be raised in the nurture
and admonition of the Lord.
